max range of 115 grain jhp shot parallel to ground(or at a 90 degree angle) 4 inch barrel

If it is traveling parallel to the ground at the beginning of it's flight, it will hit the ground at the same time as it would if it were dropped from an equivalent height. If it is lofted up it will take longer. A box of .22cal shells I once had indicated that the maximum range was 2-1/2 miles in a precautionary note.

The round itself travels at 1,200 feet a second. The muzzle velocity and range varies from gun to gun, what specific weapon would your round being coming from? For instance, the maximum range on a Beretta M9 is 1,800 meters.

A 9mm bullet travels around 1500 feet per second leaving the 4 inch barrel. It will travel around 2500 yards before it falls to the ground. It's velocity will be around 350 feet per second at impact.

I think it's about a mile. I believe most ordinary handgun cartridges are about that.
