i am using an aluminium framed bike for shopping trips with panniers and luggage rack at the rear, the other day i rode to the loca market and loaded with 10lbs of spuds and another 15 lbs of various veg and fruit . I then stopped at the supermarket and loaded yet more shopping on by tying bags to the luggage rack , i then stopped at the offi and loaded on a large bottle of cider and four cans of beer. I would estimate the total load at around the 90 lbs mark plus myself weighing 19stone , the bike rode fine and i made it home in one piece . I was wondering however wether this damages the bike or wether there is a maximum formula the average ally frame will take ?
