I think it was more a business decision based on the money they saved by not paying next years roster bonus ($5.5 million) and salary of $7.4 million.
They also won't have to pay $2.5 he was due to be payed this year.
I also believe Whisenhunt lost faith (did he ever have any?) in Leinart after the brilliant seasons Warner had after taking over from an injury Leinart suffered (broken collarbone) back in 2007?
They saved a total of $15.4 million over the two seasons and will start Derek Anderson who has considerably more experience than Leinart.
I don't know who's better cause I wasn't impressed with either one but according to Leinart he says he outplayed Anderson and thinks the problem is “probably away from football.” ...
