Million Dead

Million Dead were England's answer to At the Drive-In. Releasing two albums and a handful of EPs Million Dead had a short but prolific career breaking up in 2005 saying they'd "rather leave a good-looking corpse."

Fronted by Frank Turner who idolizes Black Flag and was known for his intense vocal delivery going from melodic singing to something between rapping and screaming with bizarre political lyrical themes. Million Dead played post-hardcore ranging from a more soft style that can out of nowhere explode into a frenzy and sometimes was just a frenzy all the way through. Similar to Reuben, Hundred Reason and At the Drive-In.

Merabers went onto form and play in Frank Turner, Pale Horse, Armed Response Unit and the Quiet Kill.

Well let me give you a run down on their albums..

Their debut album Don't Fall In Love With Everyone You See is a much more rootsy alternative country, at times indie-folk album. It has Westfall and Okkervil River Song on it.

Black Sheep Boy which contains For Real, Song Of Our So-Called Friend and of course, Black Sheep Boy is the Dave and mines favorite Okkervil River album. I believe its his favorite album ever? If not its one of his, and certainly one of mine. Its a much much more emotional release, musically its hard to pin, but you've heard a few of the tracks so I don't know if I need to or not. It contains some of their most dark stuff but its a brilliant album.

The Stage Names which contains John Allyn Smith Sails and Savannah Smiles is a more rock release, but still has hints at their alt-country roots. Its their most upbeat and accessible. Anyway i'm going to start asserabling the compilation now, if its not up my later tonight it'll be up by tomorrow.

They also have another album Down The River Of Golden Dreams, but I really havn't listened to it too much. It has one song It EnRAB With a Fall, that I like alot though which will be in the next compilation.

Public Enemy

Unlike classic rock n roll, classic rap is generally over-looked by the younger audience. While you still get plenty of 13 year old's rushing to see roger waters live, or buy the latest led zeppelin box set, rarely will you find any who can tell you who chuck d is. Or who recognize flavor flav before being a reality star jackass.

1. By the time i get to arizona
2. Dont beleive the hype
3. Cant truss it
4.countdown to armeggedon
5. dont beleive the hype
6. shut em down.

Not as many of the songs as I'd like to share, my external drive is ****ed up. All these songs are actually from only 2 albums I had on my computer. Though they are my 2 favorites. "It takes a nation of millions to hold us back" and "apocalypse 91 the enemy strikes black"
"By the time i get to Arizona" is my favorite of theirs, if not my all time favorite rap song :)
