At a bicycle store, there were a bunch of bicycles and tricycles. If there are 32 seats and 72 wheels, how many bicycles and how many tricycles were there?

well, there obviously is 32 bikes.
and there has to be at least two wheels on each bike.
so that is 64 wheels gone there.
72 minus 64 is 8.
so with all the bikes already having wheels on them, just add one more wheel to 8 bikes and you have your answer.
32 minus 8 is 24.

24 bicyles and 8 tricyles.

24(bicyles) times two is 48(wheels)
and
8(tricyles) times 3 is 24(wheels)
48 plus 24 is 72

well if there is 32 seats, that means there are 32 bicycles and tricycles together. There are 24 bicycles and 8 tricycles. There are 2 wheels on a bicycle. 24x2=48. There are 3 wheels on a tricycle. 8x3=24. 48+24=72 wheels. 24+8=32 seats or 32 bicycles and tricycles together.
