I am about to graduate with my degree in sociology-human services...i always knew i wanted to work with children but i wasn't exactly sure what i wanted to do. Lately I have been looking at grad programs and am very interested in being a special education teacher. The university I attend (UCO) has a masters program in special ed but it doesn't fulfill all of the requirements for certification in the state of oklahoma. I cant seem to find out anywhere how many more classes I will have to take to get certified. I am waiting for a counselor from my school to call me back, but I am impatient..lol..so i decided to ask on here. I know its a little different in every state but can someone give me a round about number of the amount of credit hours above the 36 hr masters degree that I would need.
Has anyone else been certified through a masters program when they had their undergrad degree in something else? How many hours was your program?
