Masterchef Australia the new one starts today

number 4 done......this is getting better and better.....more tension, fun, brighter, better judges, great guests,.....i will go on at a later date. but this show is so far in front of the uk original version that it can be called a diff show all bar the name.

It was the catchphrase on a 70's cult show presented by Fred Willard's character Buck Laughlin. During the show Buck regularly got buckets of water thown at him, after which he always shouted: What happened?? The show only ran for a couple of episodes due to extremely low ratings, which contributed to it's cutt status.
It's a nice stab at all those shows that were unwatchable and unwatched at the time, but later on became cult.

Episode 9 brought back fond memories of The Restaurant series 1 and 2 with a dash or 2 of Out of the frying pan.
Quote of the week: "There's a whole lot of nothing going on".
Horror of the week: Rocket salad pizza.

Episode 10 was weepy. Being a Northener, I feel a bit uncomfortable with all the male crying that is going on. There must be an olympic size swimming pool full of crocodiles in the room.
For crying out loud, oops, let me re-phrase that.
For goodness sake, crying because you feel bad for kicking a competitor out of the race? A race you so desperately want to win? Come on.
With all the inevitable eliminations still to come, I'll brace myself for a no holRAB barred tearfest.

Yes, and some kind of headgear.
A fez with an emu feather?

I think the ancestry of contestant Z was a disadvantage. Z stayed too much in his/her comfort zone because of that.
Z played it too safe. The judges were looking for something extraordinary.
Also far too much of ingredient X. I use half a tablespoon. More for colour than for flavour.

Did you see the enormous amount of spaghetti Adele was straining at home?

I totally agree. Great British Menu was littered with offal. Even testicles. Yuk, yuk, yuk. In friday's masterclass those kidneys looked repulsive. The cheeses on the other hand looked delicious. But why a cheese fondue? A 70's borefest.

BTW. You were right on the

73 ta ta Johno  :(
74 are they having a laugh :D nice try though
75 Callum ???
surely if you don't put the food on the plate it should not be judged, or maybe they just want to get people talking about the show
poor Alvin hope he stays

i know.

" I really didn't want Jonathan on my team!"

He could have spared his feelings and said, i think he'd be a great leader to make the challenge more interesting. Anything but that!!!

The Japanese task looked fab!! some yummy dishes!!! :)

50% chance one of my least favourite contestants leaving tomorrow! Yeah!
(I take into account the given that S and J are safe no matter what!)
[/QUOTE]

actually 75% for me but how do you know the spoiler ;) 43 not up for me yet but will be happy as long as my fav (out of the 4) doesn't go and from what's been said earlier on that is unlikely :D
the one in the hat is doing really well I had him down as being out by week 3:eek:

No worries about the spoiler it's my own fault for coming here having not seen the episode.

Completely agree with this post though ingredient X it enhances the flavor of ingredient Y but it's very overpowering when you use the whole bloody jar!

Ah contestant X I'll miss your moronic flaffing about!!!

P.S I was more surprised that contestant X dared do that dish when they had just been eliminated with it....obviously it's not all that good....:p

PPS I propose this for the secret hanRABhake

just as a sidenote...... im watching "top.chef" which is into its 7th series.....ep.3 just about to watch...... its prob the best and most watched master chef type prog in the us....... untill masterchef usa starts that is.

I haven't really got into a habit of watching this regularly yet, so I don't really know anyone's name or anything, but every time I do see it really enjoy it and decide to try and watch it more regularly, but I never do. The only ones that I seem to remember are the woman with the little plait in her fringe and a funny pursed mouth (Joanne? I'm not keen on her) and the smiley guy with the pony tail and the beard (Adam? I really like him.)

I like how this version is so much more varied than the UK version, and I like how they also teach stuff in the Masterclasses.

Edit: Oh bugger! I just looked on Wiki to read about the presenters, and I saw who won this series! Fingers crossed I forget again before long.
