BOSTON (AP) — A Massachusetts prosecutor is expected to say this week whether a former Alabama professor sentenced to life without parole for killing three colleagues will stand trial in her brother’s 1986 shooting death.

Amy Bishop was sentenced Monday after a brief trial that followed her guilty plea to capital murder in Huntsville, Ala., for fatally shooting three co-workers at a University of Alabama-Huntsville faculty meeting.

After those February 2010 shootings, Massachusetts authorities reviewed Bishop’s killing of her brother Seth Bishop, originally ruled accidental. She was indicted on a first-degree murder charge in June 2010. Bishop has said she accidentally shot her brother while trying to unload her father’s shotgun.

David Traub, a spokesman for Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey, said Monday evening Morrissey expects to make an announcement by the end of the week.
