Mary Poppins Remake

Hi Guys,

It was reported on the main DigitalSpy site that Steven Speilberg was in talks with Richard Eyr about doing a remake of Mary Poppins and making Quenn Latifa Mary Poppins :eek:

I was just wondering what you guys made of this. I personally like like idea as we have had many films over the years remade such as.

The Italian Job 1969 - 2003
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory 1971 - 2005
Cheaper by the Dozen 1950 - 2003 - 2005
King Kong 1933 - 1976 - 2005

So I think a new up to date version of Mary Poppins is needed. We can only hope it is not a flop but however it is Steven Speiberg we are talking about and he has made some great films

What next! Mary Poppins comming in on a SPACESHIP! :eek:
 
Personally I find the remaking of films a bit arrogant. It is more or less like the person doing it is saying they can improve on the original version. Now of course in some cases that may be true but there are certain films which are old favourites that should be left alone as they are still as popular today as the day they were made, such as mary Poppins.

Surely the film indutsry cannot have run out of ideas for films ? When it comes to remakes I for one am usually against them , I mean look at the Italian Job many went to watch it but not many really had great things to say about it afterwarRAB.
