I've seen an awful lot of horror movies but I really wish I hadn't seen this one. It was truly disturbing but in a depressing rather than scary way. It made me fill quite upset and angry, something which only Soldier Blue ever managed until now.
It was too classy to be considered torture porn but if it actually had a point, other than "religious people are all bonkers", I couldn't see it.

I sort of agree with this view point. I found the film original but I think the level of violence portrayed and the realism of it could not really be justified by the movie as a whole. It felt more like violence and then reason. The other issue I had is that the first half of the film seemed disjointed in style from the second half, like a slasher movie turning into a serious drama.
