I'm 13 and I signed up for MMA lessons and my first lesson is monday. What do they teach in MMA class? Do they teach you takedowns, punches, kicks, or submissions, or all? Please I need to know!

well the person above me is stupid and smart at the same time, he said he's taking LESSONS and he's smart because MMA is sloppier and you should take three different arts seperately and learn more advanced moves in each one, but MMA usually consist of three-four arts; striking art, brawling, and something like jujitsu. you will learn strikes, kicks, knees, take downs, some submissions, and some other stuff

Nwohioguy is a little wrong on this. In many states you can fight at 16 as an amateur. But I know in other posts he has said that if some one wanted to do MMA he did not have a problem telling them where a gym was :/

Most MMA gyms will vary a little bit on this. But for the most part you will have each component of the sport broken down and/or learn the arts too. You will learn how to wrap your hands.

Again all of this depends on schools

You will probably get put on the speed bag, heavy back and mats a little. You will kick the heavy bag till it hurts, then do it it some more.

I am not a martial art expert

if it's a legit mma gym you'll learn everything. take downs, take down defense, punches, kicks, elbows, knees, ground fighting, everything..

Most mma gyms are muay thai, wrestling, boxing, and and brazilian jiu jitsu combined.

First of all, you do not need to be 18 to train in MMA. Yes, you need to be 18 to fight/participate in an actual MMA bout, but training has no limitations. I am turning 17 years old this year and I have been training in MMA for some time now. I am not an MMA expert, but I have been doing Martial Arts for about 10 years now. Anyways, in MMA lessons, it can vary with different schools. However, the standard types of Martial Arts to be taught in MMA would be Muay Thai, Kickboxing, and Jiu-jitsu/grappling/judo.

Muay Thai would be taught to help you with your clinch, how to get your opponent in an effective and controlling clinch, how to defend and get out of a clinch, use effective elbows, knees, and other striking, etc. You can also be taught powerful leg kicks and inside kicks.

Kickboxing would be taught to help you use your reach advantage or to stay away from your opponent and keep them at bay. This would be done by using your jab, power punches, sidekicks, front kicks, roundhouse kicks, etc to attack your opponent from afar to keep the distance. Boxing would be for closing in the distance and just shooting short uppercuts and hooks from the inside.

Grappling, Jiu-jitsu, and/or judo are different types to learn to improve your ground game. This will incorporate throws, takedowns, submissions, chokes, armbars, controlling positions, etc.

These would be all the possibilities that you can learn from an MMA class. However, it is not limited to, and yours may not contain all of these. But here are some things to keep in mind and what to expect. Also, a few conditioning drills would be good.

Hope this helps, good luck.

Same question again? Are you trolling? You cannot fight in MMA under the age of 18 in almost every single state. Learn a real martial art, get excellent at it and then when you are getting close to 18 begin training for competition in the "sport" of MMA if it is still around by then.

Clowns - which states? If they can then that state is not regulated yet...give it time.
