Marley & Me

Nope, definitely not seeing this film now after the comments on this thread. My Dog Skip was bad enough :(

These kinda films makes me think things I'd rather not think about with my little doggie!

I remember watching this a few years ago thinking it was just a happy film about a boy and his dog, boy was i mistaken. Tbh i think that Marley and Me made me cry more and thats saying something as i cried heaps at My Dog Skip.

I would have preferred that they ended it with the book being published and arriving in the post where we discover they have bought a new lab puppy (which they did in real life). It would maybe have stopped me walking out of the cinema bawling my eyes out in front of a crowd of people waiting to get into the next showing!!

I lost my dog after 15 years of FUN! I got atext at midnight from a mate who said DO NOT watch this film, I'm not daft I'm listening to you all and I'm not putting myself though that, it was bad enough seeing my old girl die horribly after a botched up lethal injection..thanks to all who have put me off.

I'm glad i downloaded it and watched it, if i'd of gone to the cinema i'd be in a right state at the end!! I was bawling!:cry::cry: I'd buy this on DVD.

We lost our dog almost a year coming up, bless her. Still enjoyed the film, just made me think of all the lovely times we had with her. :)

Yeah I agree - I was kinda disappointed with the very, very end of the film 'cos I hoped it would've gone the same way the book did... Like when John went on to write the big column dedicated to Marley, and it getting a huge response from fellow dog owners passing on their condolences and sharing memories and stories of their own dogs.

It was still good, but would've been nice to end it on a bit of a lighter note. Plus it would have given us time to calm the crying down and dry our faces lol!

Going to see this tomorrow, and haven't cried at the cinema since Titanic!! This forum is making me most anxious about making a fool of myself - thank god the cinema is dark!! Perhaps we will leave before the end????

AARRRGGHHHHHH:eek::eek:......cryed my eyes out!!:cry:
the beginning was really funny then as he got older you kinda new what was coming. As a dog lover/owner i myself as many of us have been through the last twenty mins of this film:cry:i couldnt wait to get home to see my fur babies after watching this!!...all in all very good film but doubt i could see it again..too sad:o;)

I thought it was just okay. Some of it was pretty boring.

The ending was really sad, but I didn't cry; I'm just not a dog person, I suppose. :o I'm the weepiest person going, I cry at the X Factor, but this just didn't get me. :o

As a 21 year old guy who's never cried at a film in my life, this made me cry. It was horrible. I was kind've expecting the ending but it still got me.

I saw the film in December. It's good family entertainment - very funny and heartwarming.

The ending is definitely sad, though. Bring a few tissues to the cinema.

watched this on dvd today as it came out in the states at the start of the week.
i thought it was a really nice film...loved the montage in the middle "wrote a column about marley, wrote about boca, wrote about women in boca" etc...thought it was a good fun movie and yes, I too was in tears at the end. :)

I had to put my dog down in Jan last year, he was truely my bestest friend. Nothing and no one else could ever be as loyal as him. He used to wait for me to come downstairs, finish work etc. Marley made me think of him, and my god did I cry, half hour before it even ended :o

I ordered the region 1 version of the film, and I just sat on my sofa clutching his picture. No way could I watch this in front of anyone else!

I know how you feel, when i read the book i read the beginning half on the way to my mums on the train and was laughing out loud which was embarrassing, then tby the journey home i was nearing the end and i started sobbin on the train!! that book brought much embarrassment to me!

the film was brill, prompted the same reactions from me, and it was a very good adaptation i didnt feel it missed anything like i normally do with book to film

Just went to see this with my granRABon. I started sobbing towarRAB the end and cried all the way home. Do not go and see this if you've recently lost a pet or are horribly hormonal!!

The early part of the film was good though, well so was the end really, just very emotional!
