Marley & Me

I know it sounRAB silly but that sort of puts me off it - I know the ending will really upset me, especially since I have a yellow lab myself.

It does look like a lovely film though.
 
Yeah I know what you mean. It took me ages to read the last couple of chapters of the book 'cos i knew what was coming, i just kept putting it off. I'm still gunna brave the film though, i know parts are going to upset me, but i know the story itself is just lovely and i will leave feeling happy rather than sad :)
 
Am going to see this movie tomorrow night! The book being my fave read ever(and saddest of course) i have been waiting for this film for a while so am happy i can finally get to see it. I have my pack of kleenex ready ;)
 
I went to see again yeaterday and i really wish i hadn't i cried more than i did the first time, i also have a yeallow lab and all i could imagine at the end it was my dog dying which made it 10x worse, up until the end its a great film though.
 
This was definitely one of it not the saddest films I've ever seen. I really enjoyed the film but the ending was overwhelmingly sad, I was even crying before the end! all in all a great film though.

Watched this earlier today and it is a lovely film - the family is very ordinary which is part of the appeal of the film (and the story on which it is based).

Jen and Owen are good but obviously Marley is the star - and even though I'd read the book a couple of years ago, the ending is still very sad

If you're worried about sobbing in the cinema the movie is now out on DVD in the states and can be ordered online. Mine arrived yesterday and it was only
 
I very excitedly went to see this film and I loved it.
However, I hadn't considered how it might end and thus was not prepared for the onslaught of inconsolable tears!!!
 
I watched it last night! It's a really nice film, with a nice message. Very funny in parts, and Marley is just adorable!

The last half hour is so, so sad, i sobbed my heart out! Even though i read the book and knew what was coming!

The message is true though, a dog doesn't care if you're rich, doesn't care what you look like, doesnt care what car you drive... you give them love, and they'll love you back forever, no matter what.
 
I saw it last night and I nearly had to leave 10 minutes before the end it was that sad.

There are some very very funny, but also some very very poignant and sad moments too.

Saw this today. I've never cried in a cinema before... Never cried that much at a film before!


Definatly, the ending slayed me, just rubs salt into the wound whilst still managing to be bittersweet!


Whatttt?! How can this be a feel good movie?! There wasn't a dry eye in the house in the *packed* cinema that I saw it in. Definatly not feel good. Depressing, sweet and touching, yes. But not happy in anyway. Lol!


Yeah, many people I've spoken to after seeing it today were surprised when I said that I was crying through the last half hour, they all thought it was meant to be a comedy. And yes, the first hour or so is funny (loved the running out of the car bit!) but the rest is so sad.

I'm a cat person (I've got two) but this still killed me emotionally. It reminded me of my Uncles dog, who was exactly like Marley in character, into everything, always jumping around, running up and down, mowing my cousins and me down (she was a whippet/collie cross, argh!) but really the sweetest thing ever. Unfortunatly she had to be pts about 3 years ago now because she developed a tumor on her back leg and it was amputate the leg or let her go... She would have been more than miserable with three legs, her life was running around and being silly. Anyway, I digress!

I can't wait for this to come out on DVD, it's got a firm place in my 'Films I love but can't watch with other people around because I'll break down' pile, along with Black Beauty, Fox and the Hound and Moulin Rouge... :p
 
I went to see this movie on wednesday, i read the book and was in tears but my pal wanted to see it,so off we popped.
Anyway to cut a long story, i have never cried at a film,i walked out at the end,because i had to put my dog to sleep after 18years last year and ,i was there for him a the end,just me and my boy. , I wouldnt watch it again. I also wouldn't recommend it,if you have recently lost animal.
 
First heard about it when it had done really well in the USA. Then I saw some of the clips, read a few reviews and came tothe conclusion it was a load of crap, I'm not a bloody dog lover and Owen has got a strange nose. Avoid it like the plague, is my advice........to me;)
 
It's a beautiful film. Maybe not exactly "feel good" but bittersweet and inspiring. I loved it and will be buying the DVD. Jennifer Aniston's never going to win an Oscar but she was lovely in this and Owen Wilson is always great. It's a simple story but really effective and considering how much violence and smut litters the movie and tv industries it's really refreshing to have a movie like this around at the moment.
