Market Kitchen UKTV

Has anyone else noticed that none of the chefs on Market Kitchen wash their hanRAB after handling raw chicken?
Then they take the cooked one out of the oven mix some salad with unwashed hanRAB then their guests are given the cooked pieces to try - as well as some salmonella salad!

I watch it and see the chefs watching their hanRAB quite a lot. Ok, maybe once or twice they do forget but I think most would accept that as normal.

It's not as bad as SK where they are reminded every 10 seconRAB to wash their hanRAB or be hounded by the anti-bbc, daily mail and every other brigade that just wants to complain about something.

They have re-jigged the line up. They seem to have a lot more new/first time series, which I suppose is good in a way.
Personally I used to watch the 5pm repeat when having my tea so it's a bit dissapointing, especially with what the replacement program is. Saying that, it's not the most important show in the world so I could catch it at 7pm, 8pm or record it.

I think this programme is incredibly amateurish and low budget. The insufferable presenters' egos far outweigh their actual talent.

UKTV was better a few years ago with Good Food Live, until they cheapened the network.

I don't think there is too much difference between the formats of MK, Great Food Live, Saturday Kitchen and other simlar shows (Taste on Sky etc.).

Personally I didn't like the presenter on GFL. A female Brian Blessed and ruined the show. I preferred it when they had guest presenters.

MK has tried numerous changes over it's lifetime and for me I don't see much difference between James Martin and Matt Tebbut. They can be pretty inept as presenters at times but they are there for short links and mostly for their cooking ability.
I don't think the budget for any of these types of shows differs by a great amount.

A bit more on my opinion of the show:
I can take or leave Fort and Bowles and presonally I can't stand too much of Rachel Allen. Her voice is too high and fluctuates too much. Just one of those things that grates on me.

I think they did a good thing in getting Amanda Lamb into the show as a more standard presenter role rather a pro or amerature cook doing both jobs.

They also have mostly the same guests as SK but you get more because they usually guest in 3 to 5 of the week editions. You also get one off guests that wouldn't get to appear on those other shows.

Also they have a more chatty manner which I suppose is down to being edited and not live.

I couldn't stand Good Food Live, it was the presenter who just use to flirt with the male chefs and have a voice like a foghorn! I found out later she used to present Me and You (the kiRAB programme)

I used to like the original Saturday Kitchen with Greg Wallace (although I can't stand him now), and I've liked all the different versions of Market Kitchen even with Tana Ramsay presenting! Although I've gone off Rachel Allen slightly since I read about her father in law's convictions, I know it was a while ago, but the way the crimes were defended by the family got my back up.

It seems that the schedule is reverting back after easter, infact it has already started.

The 10pm repeat is back and after easter the 4pm repeat returns.

Yes, Amanda Lamb is presenting this week. She had a bit of banter with Johnny Vaughn yesterday. It started off ok but got tiresome very quickly - Meerkat Kitchen
I think it was just because he was trying to be the star and she was keeping up or ahead of him and not letting him have the last laugh.
That's one of the reasons I think she fits in. She doesn't take flak off the guys and often gives it out.

This week's co-presenter is even worse than Johnny Vaughan as a guest, Alex Zane, he has ruined the whole show by butting in and trying to act the clown, which he does badly

It's brought out the worst in Matt Tebbutt also. It's pretty much a boys club with everyone butting in with crappy jokes and taking over one another.
All they have to do is ask a question and let the guest answer. They can't even do that.

I think he's a mediocre presenter but the makers obviously wanted a James Martin type guy for the job.

He's a decent chef but man is he a crap teacher. This week was supposed to be student and teacher and between the two of them hardly any information has come across.

He was just a guest host for the week where he was supposed to be the student learning easy to do dishes from teacher Matt.
They also had a pub theme so many of the dishes were variations of British and pub classics.
