Marilyn Monroe films

I love The Seven Year Itch! :D It's my favourite Marilyn movie- I love it.

Gentlemen Prefer Blondes is very good :) Jane Russell is great in that movie as well! Highly recommended.

I'm in my 20s and I love old films. I grew up watching old films on TV with my grandma and got to know all about Old Hollywood that way. As an adult, I'm fascinated by it and Marilyn is one of my favourite legenRAB.

I think, like Pinkster, my favourite Marilyn film is also The Seven Year Itch. She's amazing in it, and looks incredible too. Gentlemen Prefer Blondes is great fun, too.

Pia!
:)
Where have you been? :D

Wasn't it just.
Mainly down to Tony Curtis, and Jack Lemmon I think...
and Marilyn of course.... Boop-boop-a-doop!

Where have I been? Lot of work stuff going on so I've just flitted in and out without being active on forums. Have been posting on the Doctors (daytime drama) one mostly. But I'm back now - yes Pia is back!!

Love that last scene in Some Like it Hot when Jack Lemmon tells Joe E. Brown that he's really a man. Can't remember the exact reply but think it's something like "I don't care!"

I actually think there was more to Marilyn Monroe than the dizzy, breathy blonde. Given the chance of meatier roles I think she might have surprised us all.

I don't think she was a great actress by any means but she was in a lot of really good films, plus some that, though not great, are highly enjoyable. I'd agree that Some Like It Hot is probably the best one but almost all the films she appeared in were worth seeing (The Prince and the Showgirl not so much).

I know. She has a real vulnerability in it. Like she is saying I know what you think of me, give me a chance in real life.

I now have every film Marilyn has appeared in that has been released on DVD.

She was a fabulous actress in some films. Niagara, Don't Bother to knock are both thrillers and she shines in them. Don't Bother To Knock is her best acting imo. She plays a psycho baby sitter and the film was well ahead of it's time.

Of course The Misfits deserves special mention as that also contains her best work and out of her comfort zone. River Of No Return is another one where she shines as an actress away from the dump blonde.

For comedies which is she best known for. Some Like It Hot and Bus Stop are my faves. Of course Gentlemen Prefer Blondes is a classic. The Prince and The Showgirl is also a good one for the collection. But I have never really liked The Seven Year Itch much.

I don't think her talents are underated. She was recently voted the 6th greatest actress of all time. But you have to see her in the real films of The Misfits, Niagara, Don't Bother to knock and Bus Stop to see how great her talents are.
