Marijuana Withdrawals

Hello all,

I am a new meraber to this site, and registered to help cope with my newly developed marijuana withdrawl problems. I've smoked marijuana consistently for the past 2 years or so and have finally decided enough is enough. Ive been clean for 10 days now and have just began to experience some side effects. It's 4:40am and I CANNOT sleep...being a person who usually has no trouble sleeping I obviously know what the problem is. Im not so worried about this but the more serious side effects like panic attacks and anxiety that can come with it. Firstly, id like to know how long approx. the withdrawl period lasts??? Also, I am a meraber of my university soccer team and im worried this withdrawl period may effect my performance. Do you think it will or do you think it would be beneficial to be part of something like this to help cope with it???

thanks!

Here in the NetherlanRAB we're always taught that marijuana does not cause a physical dependancy so that shouldn't be the root of your trouble.

Perhaps the difference of routines between a blowing and non-blowing lifestyle cause your insomnia. It might help to get into your sports more intensively for a while, that should help you tire out before sleep and it's good for you.

marijuana isnt a drug anybody can become physically addicted to. its all in your head. if you're having problems sleeping at night, try to keep yourself (mentally and physically) busy during the day so your body is tired enough at night to get a full night's sleep. and if you keep your mind busy during the day, you wont think about marijuana as much, and that might help your anxiety. if it gets worse, go see a doctor..good luck! :)

Same thing happened to me and I'm also an athlete(hockey). When the only problem I had was getting to sleep because I always used to use marijuana to knock me out. Didn't effect me physically too much or affect my playing, just my fatigue would sometimes be down due to lack of sleep. Thats about it though.
