Kirsten had very nice hair in the movie. I'm not talking about the wigs but when she was actually allowed to show her real hair
 
even though they weren't accurate, they were so pretty. I think having them be bright translates better to this day and age and shows the audience that she was all about fun.

what book is it! I love this movie it's such a good movie and a beautiful movie!
 
The birth scene was so messed up. I can't believe they had pretty much everyone in the palace watching. And it was really like that in real life.

But it was cut ehow loving they were to each other.:D

The costumes are very extravagant, but they are not realistic for the time period. Although dresses/gowns were large and wild they wouldnt have been as bright. I know its not exactly a big deal but I think that if theyre trying to perceive Marie Antoinette as a fashion icon in the media they should have atleast used the right costumes.
 
They did that because that's exactly how it was. After they got married all anyone cared about was them having a baby.

And for 7 years they didn't have sex and then her brother came and gave Louis a pep talk and then they did.

I really don't think he had any surgery I just think he really didn't know what to do.

Kind of a what goes where and no one realized he didn't know and he brother explained it to him...and if you're seen the movie when that part comes he obviously got the picture and was excited

I rented this several months ago and bought it right afterward. It's so vibrant and colorful and I enjoyed it quite a lot. I agree that we're meant to see Marie Antoinette in a sympathetic light; I certainly did. Watching the movie made me want to know more about her, actually. There's a book about her on my Amazon wish list right now. :)

Some of those dresses were quite awful. The way they just kinda made you look like you had a box around your waist. But I guess it was the style or whatever.
The shoes. Now I would've liked some of the shoes! Hehe.

I really enjoyed this film.
There a lot of mixed feelings towards it and it seems to be a case of you love it or hate it.
But in my view, it's simply a different way of interpreting a iconic person from history. Its by no means the best film, you never *really* get close to the characters as they aren't particularly developed and you never see much of character growth so you don't really move on with the film but the visual effects and the way the lack of dialogue is placed makes it very interesting. It was... Relaxing in a way. :P
Kirsten and all the cast do a really great job I think.


She did speak French! Bless her. The kids were adorably cute! :sigh:
I thought there was a pretty cool balance between the English and the French, every now and then someone threw in 'merci' or something of the like.



I feel that the idea of the film was to view it from Marie's point of view and it's very likely she would have been shielded from what was said outside the palace walls and if not then she would've simply ignored it. There is a reference to 'Let them eat cake' when she is discussing all the rumours that are going on and she is told to do something about it but she says that she won't and will just leave it.
It's entirely possible that that is actually what she did.


Did ayone else notice the blue converse in one of the many tantilising shoes/cakes clips?
 
ahhh

I guess they wanted the movie to be from Marie's POV and maybe she was sheltered from what was said?
I am not much of a Marie Antoinette history buff so I wouldn't know.
 
It's been a while so I don't remember all of them. Probably any blue one because they used a pretty shades of blue
 
it's already out of the theater here :( they didn't even think people may want to see it still
