The problem with pancakes is all the other stuff that we add to it besides the maple syrup...butter, sour cream...:look: But you've still gotta love that maple syrup!

....now this is just making me want pancakes for breakfast.

Thanks Lem.

I used to have this

as a young one, but the picture always seemed like a dead lion with flies buzzing around. Perhaps it's just a sleeping lion with bees buzzing around?

We now have a new product at our supermarkets called "organic syrup". It costs 4$ per can (versus around 10$ for pure maple syrup). That syrup is made of 5% pure maple syrup.

hey at least there's some real stuff in it?

Phew. I thought you didn't like the white frosting on it. Yeah, you gotta have the frosting. :D

hmm cheese whiz & maple syrup, interesting combination.

pff but you've never tried it Eric! :P

Check out the articles at How Stuff Works or at Snopes.

This is from How Stuff Works:

....Maple syrup, on the other hand, is tree sap. Sometimes it's just not a good idea to think too hard about where food really comes from.

It's gotta have the frosting as well as the peanut butter. Tastes brilliant.

Maple syrup is lovely stuff. If you can't find maple syrup, perhaps you might find maple sugar candy, and that is also excellent.

Well this is slightly off topic but since maple syrup is involved...

Belgian waffles! Gah! Why must I eat the main course first at that hotel buffet place before picking that thing as a dessert? :thud:

Anyway, I just found this interesting tidbit on how maple syrup is healthy for you. :)

* It is a 100% natural, wholey organic food. There is no way to alter it
* Maple Sugar is three times as sweet as cane sugar, AND it has few calories!
* Maple Sugar is 100% pure. No reduction, processing or removal of anything
* Maple Syrup contains manganese and zinc, natural antioxidents which are good for your immune system, male reproductive systems and helps prevent damage to the heart.

I'm thinking of getting some from the special American/British store they have here in the centre of Rome..I want some on toast :sigh:

Can you believe I've never actually tasted maple syrup, like, ever?
That must taste so nice... I wonder if Swiss supermarkets have it!
