It’s been a long time since I last watched “The Grim Adventures Of Billy & Mandy”. I suppose such is true for “Invader ZIM” as well, and with my memory being as bad as it is, perhaps I don’t really have a full grasp on these characters. However, the primary issue that I had with Mandy was her lack of passion; she’s a cold-and-calculated sort of girl, which I admit adds to her creepiness, but her brand of cruelty – while definitely evil – lacks a sadistic touch. I guess that could be considered more evil in the grand scheme of things, but I personally believe that her lack of emotions works against her.
That’s the reason I believe Heloise would fare better. She is evil, to be sure, but her evil is more like that of a Sith Lord. She embraces her passions and commits acts of cruelty in order to bring a smile to her face or to simply get something that she wants. Her day job involves coming up with new inventions to keep an entire town as miserable as possible, and in her spare time, she experiments on people and tortures them. She even has a graveyard in her backyard and was seen burying people alive in one episode. Besides, when “Jimmy Two-Shoes” was in development, she was supposed to be a child serial killer in hell. That aspect of her character was changed in order to make the series more suitable for young audiences, but the spirit of her character – her sadistic love of cruelty – remained perfectly intact.
Gaz… I may have voted for her in the poll, merely because I didn’t want to vote for Mandy, but she doesn’t really go out of her way to commit acts of cruelty. If people just left her alone and never did anything to upset her, she probably wouldn’t notice that they existed.
