The feminist organization that I'm a member of on campus is creating a display case in response to a women's body image display that we did earlier in the year.

I'm having difficulty finding statistics or major issues for men so I thought I'd put the question out there

Men: is there anything you think women should know/misconceptions about male body image and society etc?

Women: what's your ideal man? (trying to counter the violent he-man tool)

I think people think of anoerexics being only women - in fact, men can be anoerexic too. Monty Don (UK gardener) is/was one.
In fact, my own father in law was diagnosed as anoerexic. In his case, it wasn't body image, though, it was a control issue.

Yes. Its amazing how feminists say that only women suffer from body image issues. What about the guys who kill themselves with steroids or have constant injuries from the gym? But as far as feminists are concerned, its only pain if it happens to a woman.

This is unusual for feminists to study male social pressure.

Basically I would link the male body issue to with needing to be muscular and tall.

But mainly the biggest problem for our boys today is this ghetto gang stuff marketed as masculinity. They're too young to understand that violence is NOT masculinity and they are simply bad role models. It's also why there's so many men in prison most are due to violence.

Violence is not testosterone it's socialization. Are we going to say anorexia in girls is estrogen? LOL no it's the images of thin women they see all around like boys see violent images all around.

I'm not sure if you're taking the piss with this post but there you go. There's not a lot of research into boy's issues out there because evil is assumed to be "it's only boys" "all men are rapists/violent" so we do need research into boy's issues.

Hmm...well I cat think of any misconceptions and i can only speak for myself as a guy but i feel kinda pressured to have the pecs and 6 pack abs but i dont wanna be like HUGE and gross like those big extra tan guys you see on magazines in giant eagle. I look at the larger men and say to myself i dont want to look like that and then the fit-inshape guys and say there we go so i've ony drank water and orange juice for the past 5 months and almonds with every meal, i cut out fast food and i do small work outs i can do at home, im only 14 so i dont need to lift weights yet i think.

If that makes sense hope i somewhat answered your question.
