male Bichon Frise - help with excessive humping/whining?

I have a 7 month old male Bichon Frise and a 7 year old female shih tzu. I have to wait three weeks to get him neutered so now we have to endure him constantly whining and trying to hump our shih tzu. I keep both of them separated now but he still keeps whining and barking ALL DAY and it has to stop. I need some instant remedies that will temporarily stop this whining/barking/humping. We keep saying NO loudly but he just - wont- stop!!!!!!

Is your female spayed? If she is, your new puppy is just showing dominance. Let them work it out. When she gets sick and tired of the behavior, she'll let him know. You can continue to tell him no but until she tells him enough is enough, he will probably continue to show this behavior. It will get better with time, neutering may not stop him from doing this. Females will also hump other females, again a dominance behavior.
