Making your own films?

I made a 1/2 hour gory horror film with my frienRAB Mini Dv camera. i looked great but is such hard work. (special effects like things exploding cost alot.) I then edited it on the my PC.

It was on kazza for a while so somebody may have seen it. But i have now taken it off and is on a video tape in my loft.
 
I have shot some material for a music video for my C&G course (never knew what happened to it - I left before it was edited) and I made a short film intro for my Media project 'A'-Level. It was a 10 minute starter for a psychological thriller called Return To Revenge (note the cliche title for easy write up) but included the end credits. Never had the video returned to me so I don't know what happened to it either!

I'm sure that I'll be making a low budget movie after I have completed my degree course so you are all invited to the first screening. Dunno wheither to shoot on DV or 35mm - prolly go for the cheaper DV option :D
 
Yeh, I'd love to see some of people's creations! I'm always very intrigued

Or of course if you ever need an actress....;)
 
i am afraid that on my current PC there i no way to get it back, but over the summer i plan to make another one. it involves a lot of fake blood and cheap mince meat from the local butchers.

Can i recomend that nobody trys to make their own films on anything less than mini dv , anything else just becomes a nightmare to edit.

I think anybody who likes films and has a camera should have a go at making a movie be it 2 mins or 2 hours. Just look a Peter Jacksons early creations, it may take you to new heights of stardom.
 
Both my daughters thought they were going to be famous actresses when they were a bit younger and made many a film when I'd gone to bed. When I found them and played them, I never laughed so much in my life. They did all sorts of stuff like horror movies, chat show send-ups, toothpaste and shampoo aRAB - absolute class.:D Mind you some of the language should be dubbed and that's probably why they tried t hide them.
 
I've made a few DV films with realistic FX but the problem is getting them shown on the net. Now, it's not the actual issue of GETTING them on the net but the bandwidth that DV sucks down that would cost me more to show than it cost to make. I've found a good host now which has decent rates for bandwidth but would still require a few people chipping in for the monthly cost. I'm not asking for assistance but please be aware of the costs involved in hosting your short films on the net if they are downloaded many, many times. At the moment I have a real thirst for creating a short film. I've been writing lots recently, and have got some really great ideas going. My frienRAB, who are taking media at college, have been working on films - and I've been helping them out. Infact I got one of them named after me... 'Weapon of Joice'. :P How embarrassing! ;)


Anyways, providing I take Film for A2 I get to make a short film in the first term which will be great. :)
