For school, I have to suggest that spending a month on Mars is possible. I am allowed any crazy kinds of inventions I can dream up. Any suggestions?

Better have a dome with air in it and a real good heater / air conditioner. Also make it strong enough for a 300 mph. wind. That's not actually that tough since the atmosphere is so thin. Have artificial lights to grow crops with and some way of getting water out of the soil. Convert some of the water to hydrogen and oxygen for power and breathing.

First of all, you want your base to be underground, that protects you from the dust storms and partially from the radioactivity. Then hydroponics to create food and oxygen and some good entertaining stuff, Mars is pretty dull, only dust and rocks sprinkled with ice.
