Making homemade salsa?

So I'm making some homemade salsa cruda, but I'm lost as to how many peppers to put in it. I made some the other day and it was way too spicy for me. How much and which peppers should I put in?

I have serranos, habaneros, and red chilis and I want kind of a mild to medium. Obviously habaneros are out.

Adding peppers to salsa is a taste as you go thing. I'd start with a third of a diced chili. Then, if after a minute you think it needs more add some. I add it in small increments of about a teaspoon.

I grow my own peppers and tomatoes. I grow jalepeno, mariachi peppers (a short fairly mild hot pepper), bell peppers and habaneros. I don't eat the habaneros. I use them to make hot pepper spray and chili powder for pest control.

i usually only add one jalepeno and believe me i love spicy but that is spicy enough for me, but the thing is you can add as many peppers as you want but all the spiciness is in the seeds so if you just add a few of the seeds (not many - and make sure to wear gloves and wash hands asap afterwards when dealing with spicy peppers) and then see how spicy it is, if it's not spicy enough put some more in. GOOD LUCK!
