Making friends at college??? Nervous?

I am going to be a freshman in the fall of 2009 and I am soo nervous about making friends at college. Is there a way to do that without looking like a total idiot? Also I would like you to share your college experiences and when you made friends.
I am going to a community college so there are no dorms.
 
College is awsome. You have lots of freedom. You will make lots of friends.... When you get to your classes, just sit beside someone that you think you would like to be friends with. lol. And you will have lots of opportunities to talk to them and become friends. Don't be nervous. It's just like going up a grade level. The classes aren't really that hard if you pay attention and most professors will help you out if you come to class and do the work.
 
if your in a dorm try to be kind to your dorm mate and maybe people from your old school will be there college is an exscuse to meet people live life and become an adult and take responsibilty along the way?
 
Really making friends your freshman year is about the easiest time in your life to make friends.... mainly because most people are looking for friends.

You should meet people through classes and if your in a dorm you'll meet your roommate and neighbors.

If your school has freshman orientation stuff go to that.. it can be a great way to meet people.

Most colleges have lots of extracurricular activities... pick one or two and you can meet friends there too. (Don't go too overboard though as you do need to study too ;-) )
 
Try be as confident as possible. Roommate can an excellent way to make friends. Don't be scared to put your self out there and make friends.
