Make my Windows Media Player work.?

I am trying to watch a football game on my windows media player, but it keeps popping up a little sign that says "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file."

What do I do? Please help me without telling me to download anything. I haven't been able to find the same game on youtube, google, yahoo, netscape, or anywhere else, which is why I'm watching it on my Windows Media Player. Please help me.

I have had the same problem many times, but more than likely for a different reason. If you did download the game and it wont play, then A)the file is corrupt or B)try to use another player (Quick Time, etc.)
