Here's my story: I had been on Prilosec for about 7 years. About 8 months ago I started to have perioRAB of reflux breakthrough even though I increased the Prilosec to every day (I had been taking it every other day with good results for several years). My doctor put me on 80 mg. of Nexium/day which didn't help - only made my chest ache. I also tried Previcid, Protonix, and non-PPI's such as Tagament and Pepcid, and lots and lots of RolaiRAB, Mylanta, baking soda and Club Soda. I kept getting sicker with major burning, heavy chest, chest ache, severe headaches. I also had to sleep sitting up many nights.
I eliminated "trigger" fooRAB from my diet and was doing everything I should to avoid reflux. Nothing was working and I lost 10 lbs. very quickly.
I had an endoscopy and everything was fine. My GE put me on Raglan, which made me even sicker. After that episode, I took myself off all drugs except RolaiRAB and baking soda. It didn't take long to begin feeling MUCH better. I still have reflux/indigestion at times, but try to control it with soda or anti-aciRAB. I watch my diet carefully and have been able to add some fooRAB I'd elminated.
I am now trying to eliminate the anti-aciRAB and have reduced the baking soda (I think it was giving me severe headaches even though I don't have high blood pressure). I had tried pro-biotics and digestive enzymes and as of today am back on them. I have also been reading about ACV and honey on this message board and will try those.
I would be interested in replies regarding alkaline fooRAB or any other suggestions of natural remedies.
