Hey merabers,as i posted i am going to have an MRI this Sat. I am really confused and the reason the Neurlogist ordered it is because we had GI issies ruled so i let him know that when i go to the bathroom sometimes my leg will go nurab and my genitals, (doesn't matter how long on the pot at the time) not like just falling asleep will stay that way all day .I called to preregister and found i am having a pelvic MRI(nurse that scheduled said would be with dye) what things can this show or rule out if anyone knows it would help greatly? I am so tired of leg/ back/stomach pains,nurabness/weakness ect. i could scream myvoice off.

Well I dont know for sure but I think that they maybe looking at not only the structure of that area but the nerve function too. they can see a lot with mri especially with dye. Let us know what you find out and I will keep you in my thoughts. Oh before I go I will say that before my back got really bad, I think in 98 or 99, I had a pinched groin nerve and had nurabness in my genitals and man did that hurt. I remeraber it took a long time to heal.

Well they are looking for anything out of the ordinary in the pelvic hip region that could attribute to why you are having the nurabness there, outside of the spine being the problem. They have to confirm or rule things out. This includes bone and soft tissue in this region.

In having all my spine problems, the doctor wanted to rule out pelvic issues and ordered an MRI of my pelvic/hip areas. Expecting it to turn out negative, they found a rather large cyst on my right ovary, which indeed was putting alot more pressure on things down there.

When it was discovered, I was asked how I couldnt feel it due to it's size, and why I wasn't doubled over in pain from it. Well, all I could say was that I was a bit crampy but never gave it much more merit than that. I've had kidney stones before and two babies.. this was not a big deal to me.

Anyway.. they need to look, so let them.

Monkey, dear, I can relate to all this.
I have bowel/bladder problems since my first sugery too. Second surgery 6 weeks ago did not help this area so far...
I had to have MRI 2 weeks after surgery since my bowel did not work at all for 14 days - i mean not at all. I had to have a general surgeon help me with it - it was something I never want to expereiese again.

When they do MRI- they want to make sure that nerves bowel/bladder/spine connected is a normal condition. And that CE does not presents, this is scary condition which can leave people paralised. Of course it much more to that condition than just nurabness to genitals, but they want to make sure.
They put me on Prednisone too and it didn't really work much at all.

Let us know what it going on and good luck!

Hey there thanks for all the replies it helps much! MRI tommorrow. Can they see the SI joing area also as well as the hip and would they maybe detect hip bursitis? I am wondering because i already have been diagnosed with ovarian cysts but they say it is not the cause of the severe back pain and or hip leg pain and nurabness as the cysts are not always there just at certain times and i have been to the OBGYN to rule this out already so in saying all this if they don't find anything again then they will be referring me to the University. Also at least if worse comes to worse if they do see hip burstits then i will start the injections but if not it will at least rule that out and i will not suffer the injections! Will they be able to see the sacrum and cocyx(spelling lol) and the end of the tailbone? I am especially wondering this as i am curious as this being the cause of one of my falls on the tailbone and there something being there that they say is a fatty tissue and or from a old injury it's dah you think!

Justoneofus or anyone ,this is something i found and am wondering and i know i will find more out tommorrow maybe but heres what i found and tell me if this is maybe what they can detect if i read it right. With a pelvic MRI they can detect Ankylosing spondylitis, prolpse intervertbral disc, vascular occlusion, intrapelvic mass, arthritis of the hip, and tumor of the ilium or sacrum. Oh and spodylothesis. Does this sound right it's all under the midline of the pelvis it's not just about the ovarian ect. right? and they could also see the kidneys maybe? I found this diahgram of the bottom part of the spine where it enRAB and this was a good help i think! I am really trying to understand the atanomy of the back so i can get better educated in my healing and treatment.

Moldov, so how can they detect CE? Wouldn't this be seen above the pelvic area?
