Hi,

I'm using a HTC Desire (Android 2.2)

I'm using a POP3 mail account. On my old HTC (Windows Mobile 6) I had all incoming and all outgoing mails stored om my phone. On my Android phone only about 25 of the newest incoming mails are available. Also none of my outgoing mail (sent) are available.

Any way to change these settings?

Thanks

I just purchased my Droid X yesterday and I'm having problems with sending my e-mails from an account (local provider) other than my gmail.com account. Any advice for a novice Droid user?

When I call Verizon, they say that it is my local provider's problem, and when I call my local provider, they say it is Verizon's problem. Please HELP!!!

do you require SMTP auth for your provider? I was faced with the same problem so went with 3rd party client and it finally works (activesync + touchdown in my case)

Yes, I believe I DO have my local provider for the SMTP... I'm having to call the Verizon store where I bought the phone this morning, to see if they can straighten this out. My local provider is a poe-dunk operation who hadn't even heard of the Droid (that's how 'backwoods' we are). I'll let you know what I find out - thanks for your help.

Found out that my local provider will NOT support my outgoing e-mail from the droid going through their service, therefore I have to send them via gmail, but I can receive my e-mails from my local provider (to my droid) and then reply via gmail. I'm not exactly sure WHY, but it took a phone call to my local provider from the Verizon store to get it straightened out.

I think you should configure the SMTP/IMAP Server, that would provided by the mail service provider.

SMTP will download the mails and store on your phone's memory. And IMAP will just check them, but not download. Every time you list the mail, it will send a request to the server, and receive the list or the content.
