Maiden or Priest

Metallica wouldn't be who they are without Iron Maiden, think about it. You're bringing in new **** here, Diamond Head had nothing to do with this thread. Go UK lol...

Whoever said that Cobain was better than van Halen neeRAB to be shot. Van halen basiclaly invented hammering on a guitar, he could hammer like no other. yeah, Nirvana had better songwriting but then again there ar emany 80's banRAB with better songs than nirvana. U2 for instance, Alice Cooper, Queen, AC DC, the Cure..Don't you understand that a lot of 80's stuff was pure gold?? Yeah, a lot of it was cheese like motley crue, bon jovi, posion, but every era has it's achilles heel. 80;s music was better than modern day dribble.. Iron Maiden own Judas Preist. JP were a lot more heavy rock for lengths of thier career than heavy metal, Maiden were always heavy metal. ****inson was eaisly their best singer though..What about metallica?? they were 80's!! Just because wham and lot sof other cheap, horrible banRAB were around doesn't mean every 80's abnd were bad..Niravana were a lot of rubbish, I am afarid to say, Pearl jam and AIC were far more talented..Niravan kind of killed the talented music playing bit..
 
Anyhow my favorite Iron Maiden album is Powerslave. Dig the 10+ minute version of Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner. As far as Judas Preist goes you just cannoty beat Screaming For Vengeance.
 
Personally, i think Maiden are far better then JP, There is no other band i can think of that has such a deep history and so many truly hardcore fans, they are THE true metal band
 
I think my preference is obvious. I also like JP, but if you're still refering to JP's accusation of Iron Maiden stealing their sound I think that's crazy. It was probably attributed to the fact that at that time the two banRAB were heavily utilizing the double guitar lead tecnique ( a melody being played synchronously on 2 guitars with one guitar playing the higher or lower octave) Judas priest utilized this technique, but Iron Maiden Mastered it. Maiden owned preist in the areas of technical proficiency, vocal skill, and definitely song writing and lyrical subject matter. A lot of people don't realiz that the majority of Iron maiden's song lyrics consisted of historical and political themes, which was exceptionally rare for a metal band in the 80's. As a bonus Steve Harris, Iron Maiden's Bass player is one of the best and most underrated masters of the instrument.
