Mah teefs!

nothing special

;921745']I've done well taking care of my teeth as fair as cleaning, flossing, etc. My teeth are, for the most part, in great shape. I even avoid sweets, though this reason is more or less because they make my stomach hurt.

I went to the dentist last week, and he told me two things.

1- I need a root canal on the 22nd of July. The tooth is a bit sore, and there's no way around this one. Anyone had a root canal before? Does it suck? Worse than pulling wisdom teeth? Does percocet help?

2- I grind my teeth in my sleep, a nasty side effect of PTSD (so they say). Over the years, this has caused some damage. I'll have some teeth "replaced". Do any of you have fake teefs?

3. I had a bad overbite as a kid, and the braces didn't work too well. They'll be "rehabilitating" my jaw probably later in the year. And by "rehabilitating", I mean "breaking and reassembling". I've been in many a scrap, but I never thought I'd see the day where an asian woman in a white coat breaks my jaw. Has anyone experienced this?

Any insight into this would help.

Also, do not expect any of my posts to make sense on the 22nd, even to my normal standards. I will be drugged out of my mind.

Serves you right for being so hardcore, [Hos].

I hear it's worse than wisdom teeth pulling, just make sure the novacaine has kicked in before the doc goes to work... Just sayin'.

Wear a rubber mouth-guard for the grinding.

And make sure they do the right tooth. My dad went in for a root canal a few months ago, and the "doctor" drilled the tooth opposite of the one needing drilling. Yeah. So, my dad had to have TWO root canals because the dentist was incompetent.

Your list made me think of this
I think, considering stories I've heard, the rootcanal will hurt... If you're drugged, though, all you might feel is some pulling, etc...

Good luck on this one, dude. My dentist kept telling me I had perfect teeth as well, but a couple of months ago I had caries, four holes in total, out of nothing...

I hope you'll get over it soon enough.

Did I wish you good luck yet?

Rootcanal hurts like...well alot. ask for sedatives, and get some for afterwards, because it will hurt alot. have some icepacks or something you can have on near the tooth. When I've had mine(i've had 2) the first time it took 3times to get it fixed and the second 4times. It all depends on how bad it is, I had my eyes shut most of the time when they put the needles in because it looks fucking scary when they put 3inches long needles in the tooth, they take it out again and it's all bloody and you can't feel shit. But then about 4-8hours later you will be in pain, so get good meds. :happysad: Hope you get a nice doctor :D

;922603']Procedure is done. I'm a little loopy from the percocet, and I have a mouth full of gauze. I'm sure it will hurt later... but they gave me 30 of these pills.
