Magic Roundabout...title/voice cast change for U.S

OK, it's not major news, but I was just looking at the trailers on the Apple site, and I noticed that the cgi Magic Roundabout movie from last year (?) is about to open in the U.S, but it's been retitled 'Doogal', and the original voice cast has been replaced (except Ian Mckellan) by quite a starry American one; now it's Kenan Thompson (Kenan & Kel?) as 'Doogal', Jimmy Fallon as Dylan, William H. Macy as Brian, and Whoopi Goldberg as Ermintrude...plus John Stewart, Judi Dench, Kevin Smith and Chevy Chase!
I bet they've made quite a number of script changes too, to 'localise' it, and play to the cast's strengths.
 
That's Americans for you! unless it feels like it was made in the states they get all xenophobic about it!
There again we can't talk, as it was French originally and had a French soundtrack this time round but we had to change it and make it anglicised! No Dougal no Ermintrude or Dylan!

Vanessa Paradis was the original 2005 Florence (Margote), Kylie will also be in the US version
 
Quite a lot of animated movies get that treatment; e.g. Steamboy got both British and American dubs.

P.S.: Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit and Valiant didn't have any changes in the US releases - no redubs or whatever.
 
From what I saw of the U.S trailer, I think they made one small change to Valiant-the two Geordie pigeon brothers were given American accents (because U.S audience wouldn't understand accent? To make movie more 'inclusive' for an American audience?).
 
It has happened the other way too as well though. For Shrek 2 they replaced Joan Rivers and a bloke whose name escapes me with Kate Thornton and Jonathon Ross for the British version.
 
I think it was Larry King who they replaced with Jonathan Ross. The silly thing about how they did it in Shrek was that they only changed the voices, so you had Kate Thornton's voice coming out of a CGI character who was clearly modelled on the appearance of Joan Rivers (Joan's far more famous/notorious in the UK than Kate Thornton, too...the whole ting was very odd).
 
Yes and Larry King can still be heard on the Far Far Away Idol extra.

In the movie Ross's voice is badly dubbed as some of his worRAB don't fit in with how the character's lips move.
