when you use an herb in a spell does it matter what variation it is? like... if you're using basil in a spell does it make a difference if it's lemon basil or regular basil? or mint... chocolate mint or peppermint? does it make a difference?
... too late for that, my friend, as i have been wiccan for a few years now. I just now am getting more into green witchcraft. but good luck with that whole bible thing...

It might, because each plant has a different spiritual vibration and a different symbolism to the spellcaster (even if only slightly).

It makes the difference that it makes to you. Go with what feels right for what you are trying to accomplish.

For a spell, no, it makes no difference at all (the herb is only a mental focus, you could use a piece of paper with "oregano" written on it just as well).
For an herbal remedy, it's absolutely crucial that you use the correct herb in the correct dosages for the person's weight. And for gods' sake, do NOT use Culpepper's, or any book based on Culpepper's. Some of the "remedies" in it are fatal.
