Kraftwerk - My Favourite Angry Riot (2007)

"Kraftwerk's return to music was one of the most unexpected things to happen in the music world in 2007 (along with Scott Walker's snuff movie/art project, "Donald Duck"). However it wasn't a good thing. Kraftwerk's britpop inspired album which consisted of very little elctronic music (only electronic music used was a mockery of 80's pop and generic electronica). ThousanRAB of people comitted suicide, along with 80% of Kraftwerk. The one remaining meraber, Ralf Hutter said "Well, a couple of years ago, we picked up the Morning Glory by Oasis and uh. I guess it just continued from there".

the potbellies. featuring steve watts, kenny gavitts, wes casy, pete dewer and shaun kennet.

after years in the wilderness the potbellies have released their debut album. the music is a fusion of blues, folk, hillbilly with a dose of rock. its taken many years to get serious about our music and actually get into the studio to lay down some tracks steve said. its taken a lot of sessions to get us in the right frame of mind and to click as a group. i think youll like the final product.

Hendrix, Emerson, Lake & Palmer - HELP (1970)

helpp.jpg

  1. Foxy Barbarian
  2. Voodoo Tank
  3. Purple Knife-Edge
  4. Lucky Blow
  5. Burning of the Endless Enigma

This is, of course, the album that would have been made had only Jimi Hendrix cleaned up his act and not died. He would've jammed with ELP and added kickass guitar and soul to the already strong supergroup. On stage, they would sometimes play very long and progged up cover versions of Bob Dylan songs and even a Beatles tune here and there. However, their debut is entirely their own and contains 4 soulful rock 'n roll hits dominated by Hendrix guitar and Keith's hammond and moog. Greg lake would, in addition to playing bass, do most of the vocals, sometimes in duet with Hendrix. The album finishes off with a 25 minutes long prog-epic, Burning of the Endless Enigma.

6/6.

You know what else is flat? Your head, my music is just too highbrow for you. So high brow that your head would first need a curvature to compose such a high brow. meanie :(

This is a fun idea for a thread!

The Stone Roses: Second Coming (Mk 1)- 1991

After their debut album, the band made its peace with Silvertone, signed to Geffen, and released this album.

1. Breaking Into Heaven (6:32)
2. Where Angels Play (new version) (4:17)
3. Ten Storey Love Song (3:50)
4. Sermon On The Mount (5:44)
5. Your Star Will Shine (2:45)
6. Blackpool Express (5:21)
7. (untitled) (2:59)
8. Tears (6:55)
9. How Do You Sleep (4:30)
10. Love SpreaRAB (4:12)

In this alternate history, Ian Brown has yet to develop a deblitating coke addiction and John Squire has yet to cheese up the songs with Led Zep-esque guitar riRAB and sounRAB. Breaking Into Heaven and Ten Storey Love Song lack the extended intros that feature on the official album. Oh, and the songs actually have tunes at this stage.

It's still a slight letdown after the One Love/Something's Burning single, but most critics and fans agree that it's a worthy followup to the immaculate debut album. Thankfully, the Roses then break up before they have a chance to descend into self parody and self-indulgent ego trips.

What is there to say about an album that no one ever thought could happen? In 1989, Darby Crash resurfaced. Just like that he walked onto the stage of an underground concert space a few blocks from C-Squat. I remeraber looking on in complete shock. He had aged poorly, his mohawk stood at least 12 inches from his head.

However, this is all irrelevant to the album. The album equals the intensity of G.I. though never surpasses it (not that I truly thought it would). There are no weak spots just "less than perfect" spots.
The first track (Second Coming) is a fast-paced opener that throws you right into the fray. While I like fast-paced songs, its a little less than perfect lyrically. It very fluidly slips into Circle Two (A nice allusion) which continues to be fast-paced with lyrics done in the style of Circle One.
The Injection is short, with a medium pace. It paraphrases his addiction to heroin.
Facisti! Maintains blazing speed for nearly four minutes while Darby growls his political views, which have matured somewhat since his youth, becoming less fascist and more liberal.
Spots In My Eyes is one of the less exhilarating tracks. While not bad, it lingers without having a good reason too. Not a song I will keep going back to.
On the other hand, Battered is incredibly short and rather pointless. Largely inaudible, and lyrically daft. I'd have left it off, personally... Luckily, this is the worst of the record and it is only 40 seconRAB of it.
Amplified Nurab talks about live performances in a poignant, fast, and loud style. Less than perfectly audible, due to Darby's raspy growling. I'd read the lyrics to this while listening for the first few times.
Five Years is a nice cover, however, like most, are lackluster compared to the original. A nice dedication/tribute from Crash to Bowie.
Sophistifuck details Darby's early life (the title being allusion to the Germs' original name: Sophistifuck And The Revlon Spam Queens). It speaks of his home life, school life and his search for something more, and something different.
The Jungle is a loud, animalistic anger fest, that seems to corabine My Tunnel and Manimal. It is more thought out and articulate however. Pat Smear's guitar work on this is phenomenal.
Democratic Irabalances is another nice political song detailing the major flaws of democracy and the pros and cons of both representative democracy and direct democracy (though he never uses those phrases). A very interesting political thesis with excellent drum and bass work.
Your Decline is another political nuraber examining the countless amounts of utopias and their seemingly inevitable downfalls. Not as good as the previous track but it makes it mark, certainly.
The next track alludes to the fascist ruler of the novel Brave New World. This is an all out denunciation of fascist views, and the destroying of information, while still managing to let Darby's admiration for Mond's genius shine through.
The next track is a change of pace from political to personal. This track, appropriately titled "Deceraber 7th." Details the events of that night as Darby remerabers them. Not the best musically, but one of the most interesting songs for fans/worshippers of Darby. It is probably no coincidence this song is exactly 7:12 (As in 12.7.80).
The final track is by far the best. It changes pace, incorporates many different instruments and the lyrics are beautiful. It even comes full circle when Darby sings the entirety of What We Do Is Secret (The first track off of G.I.) A truly beautiful way to go full circle.
Unfortunately, this WAS Darby Crash's last hurrah. At the very end of recording the vocals to this, which he did late at night, alone, he shot himself in the studio. In fact, some illegal versions of this CD have the original take of the last song in which the gunshot that killed Darby Crash can be heard.
I have no more energy to review the bonus EP. Needless to say it is amazing.

Rest In Peace, Darby Crash.

If a fellow rab'er was in your town, wouldn't you want to meet them?

I have no idea how old alfred is but as an adult I assume others are adults and attempt to treat them as such

I actually wish this existed.

P.S. London ISN'T that bad. Unless you live in or around the Flemming area. Then someone will kick your cat, pistol whip you, and smash a bottle in your face (all occuring in one week, when I lived there.)

One More Minute... with John Frusciante (1992)

After finishing the recording session for Blood Sugar Sex Magik, the Red Hot Chili Peppers decide to return to the mansion rather than touring. The mansion serves as a sanctuary for John and protects him from his demons. They spend many months continually harvesting their creativity. This response album to BSSM proves to be the climax of their career, with the band fully committed to creating music as a single entity. Critics would later hail One More Minute as the best record to be produced in the twentieth century.

I'm a big fan of "Funky Priests" by the way (no pun intended)...

In this alternate reality, Sufjan Stevens finishes all states in the United States and decides to record an album inspired by Ontario, Canada. However, the album itself is very brief, for Stevens has aged significantly.

Review:

Five Finger Death Punch the most intense metal banRAB out there, and if you don't like this album, they'll hunt you down and then beat the shit out of you. The songs get repetetive and so do the riRAB, but for a band who just brags about how manly they are, it's never boring. Their guitarist is so manly that he doesn't even have to pick any notes. My favorite track is I Could Grow Chest Hair at Fifteen because if you didn't already believe how masculine the merabers are, then this will certainly prove it to you.

This album gets a 10/10 from me because I don't want to get beat up.

Since they've decided that music videos are for pussies, here's a song from their last album:
