I just finished working at the restaurant I worked at for 4 months. For the whole 4 months I have been making a recurring mistake on my cash-out. I was clueless about it until a fellow server pointed it out to me recently. Simply put, I have been adding my tips EVERY time when there were times that I had to subtract my tips. I have never subtracted my tips, only added. About 40% of all my cash-out slips had to have my tips subtracted, so I've been putting all those tips into the cash-out bag and giving them to the restaurant.
There have been times where I forgot to put in a measly dollar into my cash-out and the owners have called me on it and asked me to pay it. How could they have missed 4 months of mistakes? I've pretty much given them $120+ of my tips by accident, how have they not noticed that and told me? I contacted the manager and let him know, and he said to give him a week to figure it out but he says he 'can't make any promises'. If they don't pay me my money, what do I do?
