Maddie cop in riddle of bank £100k?

In the News of the World today on page 4 is a small article about how one of the first Portuguese cops at the scene where maddie vanished is under investigation after £100000 appeared in his account days after she went missing. Kate and Gerry McCann are aware of these events.

1)if this is of significant importance why is it a tiny article and not splashed all over the news?

2) how come this wasn't spotted sooner
