MAD Racing Race report

Thanks for the update. Good to see the 1098 is coming together. The suspension has got to be good for 1 sec at that type of track, do you think? Interesting how the grid position is adjusted for each heat. Good luck with the rest of the season.

Sorry not to get back before. Raced again last wekend after lots of setup work and even more cash!!! But it all seemed worth it as the bike will now turn like a race bike should. Its just a shame you have to spend so much on an expensive bike to make it work properly. I will be putting a full report on the website asap.

Beginning to have problems with clutch, hope it just needs bleeding but its done about 30 race starts so?!!! Difficult to change down, find neutral with engine running and dragging when I select first.

Also heat shield on rear cylinder headstock fell off, the bolts just sheared off. Build quality! after 1000 miles?!

I know it's the Ducati experience!!!

If it wasn't so sad it would be funny. Anyway, could you please post up a detailed account on what you have done to the bike, suspension work, clutch, sprockets, chain etc etc. Did you rebuild the front forks? etc etc, I am sure a lot of people are looking for some hard data and recommendations.

Hi have put setup report on the web site, changes are:

Front forks have 20mm K Tech conversion with 9.5 springs. Not sure this correct as explained in text.

Front fork angle changed to pull forks back about 6 mm with new Headstock Brackets.

Rear Showa Shock replaced with Ohlins Superstock (type 46PRC perfomance kit).

Seat height increased 2 cm.

Foot peg lifted 2 cm and forward 2 cm.

Also just changed gearing for next meeting and managed to get a 40 tooth rear and 14 front, with the standard chain.

I read your setup report, very interesting. Changing the front fork angle is pretty dramatic, I would not have even though that such a change would be required. From the report it seems like you liked the resuts. But was it really that hard to turn the bike before?

I thought the main problem was the forks bottoming out, which you seem to imply still happens? A few pictures of the above would be really helpful, I am still trying to picture how you mananged to change the fork angle. What the Ohlins Superstock look like. How you manged to increase seat height by 2 cm?
