Mad Men.

Must have been the best episode so far. So much story crammed into under an hour - I thought I'd just watched 2 or 3 episodes! The Sal storyline is brilliant. So much suspense over something that today wouldn't make anyone bat an eyelid.

The genius of this show is really starting to shine through. The mix of characters is so clever they can follow any one of them and still come up with really engrossing storylines. The Joan vs Jane thing is fantastic and is clearly going to rumble on nicely.

The upper class English car salesman threw me a bit but doubt this was historically accurate, like everything else!

Best show on TV.
 
Don't see why, it's shown in the US with them. Perhaps as each programme is written with ad breaks he'll insist it's shown with them, to keep its original flow.
 
we're two epsiodes in and it's very interesting so far - it's not a straight follow on - I think it's suppose to be 61/62 and there have been a fair few changes

Anyone notice how Christina Hendricks seems to be able to expand her eyes just after she's said something as the actor opposite her says their next line? It make her face change completely.

Its fascinating, attractive and disconcerting all at the same time.

Then again, maybe I'm looking a tad too hard:p
 
I felt sorry for Alison last night...the one night stand with Don obviously meant more to her than it did to him and she just couldn't handle it any more. I did wonder if Don had just forgotten it had happened as they had both had a bit to drink that night, but then he looked pretty uncomfortable when they were watching the girls in the room and was obviously worried she was going to say something then. I really am going off Don, he is not a very nice person at the moment :mad:

As for Peggy...again, I really felt for her. Pete could at least have had the decency to tell her about the baby considering what they've been through together. I do wonder about those two if they do still have feelings for each other, especially as

back at the end of S2, he told Peggy he loved her and wanted to leave his wife for her and then she told him about having his baby and having it adopted

It was nice to see Kenny Cosgrave back as well...wonder if any of the other "oldies" will reappear...maybe Sol? I always liked his character.

I loved the contrasting scenes at the end of the programme as well with Peggy going off with her young, hip frienRAB who are part of the future with Pete being left behind with all the men looking like they were from the past. Did anybody else notice as well that Peggy's lot were all wearing vibrant bright colours and Pete and the men were just wearing their dull and grey business suits?
 
I agree - it would be nice to see the immediate aftermath of Don walking out of the office, and of course what Pete does with that gun.

But whatever they do I'm confident it'll be just as brilliant. As the OP suggested building a season around the JFK assassination would be amazing.
 
Mad men is indeed the best programme on tv at the moment and maybe ever and I say this as a huge West Wing fan. There are a lot of people who don't like the slowness of it but I love it. the series rewarRAB you with a great pay off for your patience. The characters are all flawed but nearly all are fascinating. Pete springs to mind.But its the small details, Don dropping the cigarette, his panic which called back to his panic in season 1 when Pete found out . His hand falling to the table when he knew that Betty had the upper hand re the drawer. The acting in those scenes was amazing.

We are an episode ahead in Ireland, but I am the last few episodes have left me an emotional wreck!
 
This episode was all about control - not least Don trying to get back what he fears he is losing ... even though he himself is happy to relinquish control at times (that scene where the call girl kept slapping him - OMG :eek::cool: - just so clever). The new company has given him a profile he's not entirely comfortable with - not least because Don is not comfortable with himself - and that is why he then tried to stamp his authority on as many situations as he could (the swimwear company, Betty, the second interview).

dancingbearbear, sorry you didn't enjoy it and you are obviously entitled to your opinion. I'm with kerry1681 - I thought that episode was breathtaking and a sign of real darkness to come for Don. The comedic element of the Peggy/Pete story was deliberate - without it, there would have been no contrast with Don's story.

Loving Henry's mother getting Betty's number. Betty and Henry are built on quicksand and I can't wait to see the wheels come off. Sally was as brilliant as ever - where did they find an actress so young who is that good?

And I have to add that Joan looked STUNNING! :D
 
Super spoiler, don't read unless you've seen all of season 3:

Kinsey is not part of the new Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce, and I have a feeling that they won't be focusing on the people left behind, which means Cosgrove and Kinsey may be gone for good. On the other hand, hopefully SCDP neeRAB an artist and Sal will be back.
 
Unless I am having Mad Men dreams (which might be possible :o), I am pretty sure that Anna walks with a slight limp (and it is slight) and she implied she never understood why the real Don married her instead of her sister (subtext: because her sister was more attractive than she thinks she is).

I think Don/Dick realised how hurt she was that her own husband had never even mentioned she existed and that is why he said he hadn't known him for long. It's not often we see Don/Dick put someone's feelings before his own, but we did see a different side to him in last week's episode.

Less than half an hour to go. I can't wait - yet at the same time I don't want this series to end ...
 
A glorious end to the series. I'll write more tomorrow I'm sure, but that scene between Peggy and Pete was televisual perfection, as far as I'm concerned. I didn't breathe from the moment they sat on the couch.
 
I was watching a recording of a BBC4 programme this morning, and was skipping thru the trails when I caught a split-second glimpse of Pete in the miRABt of some debauched-looking Brits :eek: Replaying several times didn't give me any more than that brief glimpse of him but I gathered it was in relation to a series about the 80s "coming soon", and I found it (no dates, sorry):
