Mad Men.

Me too - but I'm quietly confident. (I hope I don't live to regret saying that!)

Matthew Weiner has been shrewdly secretive about what he gives away about the show - there are very few spoilers - and the DVD extras don't feature extensive behind-the-scenes footage. I get the impression he's very into preserving an air of mystique around the show - which is a very smart thing to do.

Also, if this story is accurate and he really did said he could foresee six series, he will already have in mind where he wants to take the main characters.

On the basis of what we've seen so far, the man is a genius. :cool:
 
That has to be one of the best episodes so far...so much was going on it was hard to keep up!

Loved the look of panic on Pete's face when Trudy and Peggy came out of the ladies toilets together...you could tell he was dying to know (and also extremely worried) what they had been talking about.

Who would have thought that Miss Blenkinsop (or whatever she's called) would have had such a racy past with Bert Cooper? You never can tell just from looking at people... And I liked the fact that Don defended Miss B to Peggy saying that Joan "knew what he needed at that time" Joan obviously knew that he didn't need a dolly bird of a secretary, but some old bag to keep him in line :D

And forget about Don and Joan...what about Don and Peggy! :eek: Now there's a couple who would look good together and she wouldn't take any flak from him either. They obviously have a bond after everything that's gone on between them in the past and I loved the little hand squeeze he gave her at the end.

As for Duck...what was he thinking...and just a minor point, but how did he get into the office when it was after office hours?

So glad Peggy dumped that awful Mark...hope she doesn't get back with him, she could do so much better...didn't like the way he was trying to curry favour with her family by springing a surprise meal on her, although I did love the way he snapped "yes, I am that important" at the waiter when he brought the telephone to the table for the third time! :D
 
Yet another flawless episode with, for me, Peggy the star this time.

The dichotomy between the old and new Peggy was brilliantly dramatised, with Elisabeth Moss given amazingly diverse yet consistently superb material. I laughed out loud at 'No, but he's renting it', was gripped by the way she tore a strip off Alison and nearly in tears at the end when she looked back at Pete before entering the elevator with her new frienRAB.

Matthew Weiner is a genius. :cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:
 
Supposedly it's President Obama's favourite programme. I only heard about Mad Men after reading an article about Obama in the NY Times, I'd have missed it otherwise.
 
Probably because they can make more money charging people a premium on their new HBO-esque channel than they could selling airtime around it. The viewing figures aren't exactly sky high ...
 
Everything, Pete told him in the finale of the first series and he responded with a shrug; he has been sitting on the information since then. Hope that helps. :)
 
Tonights Mad Men was pure class!. The only thing I didn't quite get was whoch secretary Sterling was leaving his wife for?, was it Don's one?.

Also what Sterling said about going to sing a song to a chinaman or something??, what did he mean by that?.
 
I guess what I'd hope is that nowadays people wouldn't need to resort to such extremes to express their feelings. But even as I type this, I'm aware of how we are all still victims of our upbringing and the society we live in.

Not sure if I agree with your point about more freedom then. As a woman, I definitely prefere the freedom I have now - even if it means I can't go shooting my neighbours birRAB!
 
So she did..................... I wonder. I was so sure that when she was in church holding the baby that it was hers. All her body language was saying this is my baby and I really can't cope with being this close to it. Well that's what it looked like to me anyway.
 
Anyone see tonight's episode? No wonder Don is so screwed up!

Loved the how much Joan looked like Shirley Maclaine in 'The Apartment' when she had to push the buttons in the lift!
 
I'm not trying to pair them off :eek: I'd like to be reminded how much Joan does know about Don. There was the episode when Pete pried into the parcel and shared the info with Cooper, at least, no? It's a bit blurry.
