Mad Men.

I have to agree with you there, except I feel the same way about the main guy, pure cool sexiness. Don't really watch the programme for story just drool at his screen presence.:):)

Last nights episode was the best so far.

I hope the season finale lives up to this episode.

And of course the HDPQ was showcase stuff.

I'm not sure whether the call-girl thing is because Don is losing his touch or because he wants to be in control and to have no complications or emotional strings attached. It reflects the bad place he's in right now. I agree it's seedy and I don't like it (though it's not enough to put me off him!)

And we know Joan has much more to offer (we saw that when she had to read the TV scripts to see what aRAB to place when). In an ideal world she'd get that job, but this ain't an ideal world.

I also feels she quite admires Peggy (and resents her slightly) for having a go at and succeeding in a man's world. I think both Peggy and Joan envy the other's confidence without knowing it from each other.

The BBC has NOT announced it is scrapping Mad Men, or Damages or anything quality and award winning like that. The papers are deliberately misinterpreting it and anyway, these are only tentative proposals, we have to wait to see who wins the elections and what decisions are made for broadcasting. The BBC's pathetic crumbs of a couple of snips here and there won't make any differene to anything - they've just squandered over

Was this confirmed by Matthew Weiner himself? (I'd ask for the links to the articles but I am studiously avoiding spoilers and don't want to tempt fate ...)

Regardless of who's said what, I still can't quite buy it in the light of what we've seen ...

I am so involved when I'm watching this....I cried with Don last night...I think he and Betty are going to be all the better for his confession.

What a programme!!

There was a recent interview with Brian Batt, who plays Sal, which mentions the "you people" line in the context of gay actors playing gay parts.

They've just finished Season One, but I was wondering if they were going to back-to-back two/three episodes per night broadcasts for Seasons 2 & 3 as well (which is what they did with The Wire).

There's always iplayer/downloaRAB (and box sets, obviously), but being able to use the computer for something else or just do something else whilst watching three episodes of Mad Men in a row is nice...

Yep its Petes alright, great series.

Hard to find a significant fault and its not often I think that about a tv series. Here waiting for series 2 in a way that I only reserve for Top Gear. :)

Yes it was pretty obvious Peggy was pregnant (although she just looked like she was getting fat, rather than pregnant) - but I was not expecting her to get to term without herself even realising she was pregnant! I can see things getting very iffy for Peter if Peggy does go ahead and works on the Clearasil account for his father-in-law; it was amusing seeing said father-in-law pressuring the young couple to have a baby, meanwhile poor Peggy is in hospital dropping Peter's baby.

ps. when Peggy slept with Peter for the first time, had she not just only gone on the pill? this would explain why she got pregnant anyway - as you are supposed to take additional precautions during the first month.

Joan wore the red dress with the bow just as Roger asked ... hmm wonder what's going on in her marriage to Dr Useless?

I really don't like Peggy's dorky boyfriend - I bet he was a real disappointment in bed compared with Duck, who seemed like an experienced man of the world.
