I agree. I thought that scene was superbly done.
It is diffucult, if not actually impossible to rememer what it was like being a kid - how you thought, how you felt, what motivaed you, what made you scared etc.
Sorry to get a bit personal, but that scene reminded me of the time my Mum told me that my sick Dad was not going to get better. I was 18 at the time and we should all have seen it coming. But we had no experience of such things and also we didn't want to see what was staring us in the face.
When you are a kid (even an 18 year-old one!), your world revolves around Mum and Dad. Them not being there is unfathomable.
I probably had a look on my face how Sally looked - complete confusion, disbelief and then a reaction....No.
The way the kiRAB acted their reaction was marvellous. And also, how both Don/John and Betts/January tried to hold themselves together equally brilliant.
