Mad Men.

I thought that too Lyvanna......in the clip that Scrimmage has posted...(thanks for that ) with some of the stars of Mad Men on the red carpet he has a beard which makes him look a little older ...he has a babyface which he'll probably be grateful for when he's older ...:)

Too often, sensational stars from drama series forget how much they owe to the "setting" - a bit like singers from banRAB going solo and finding it cold out there.

Just don't ask me for any examples, but I'm sure you non-gaga fans will think of plenty :p

:D That was so funny, and spot on about taking the mickey of DD's persona. Thanks for posting it. I wonder if they filmed it on the MM set, it looked perfect.

I notice that BBC4 have started repeating MM on Wednesday nights, at some silly hour. It must have started last week, I missed the first episode.

This is terrible news. I"m sick of Sky letting free to air broadcasters take the initial risk of picking a show, promoting it, turning it into a hot, then jumping in and outbidding everyone for it once the audience is established. :(

As for ad breaks, I wonder if Matthew Weiner has made it a pre-condition of any purchase that the show must go out without breaks?

I did the same, recorded the last four eps on skyplus and watched them one after the other. Sublime. I loved that while Don's private life was falling apart, he still managed to galvanise the others into taking action.

I am having withdrawals already, might have to go back to s1 and watch it all again while waiting for s4 with baited breath.

Absolutely brilliant. I always feel at the end of an episode that I have been holding my breath all the way through, never moreso than with the last one. I finally exhaled when it was over and immediately had the urge to watch it all again.

I am going to miss them all so much (even Pete!)

I disagree completely with that Guardian review. Just because it's not all jump-cuts and split screens doesn't make it slow. I'd say it's normally paced and the story moves along at a natural pace. The plots are not dense or confusing although it helps if you saw series 1. This weeks episode was particularly good and is setting up some interesting potential plot directions, I think.

Where I think it is sometimes a bit too self concious is in the smoking and drinking. Because it is so shocking to modern (especially US) eyes it seems they try to overdo it and get it into every shot. I grew up in the late 60's and 70's and know it was more common then (hell one of our teachers used to smoke on playground duty, mind you he needed it at our school) but it's a bit OTT.

Well if the Guardian scribe doesn't like it tough, there are plenty of us who do (and on the ratings the show is shown several times on BBC4 and BBC2 so I expect the cumulative figures will be much better than the Guardian's quotes)

Don swapping IRAB flashback was about halfway through series one - back in Korea he and his Sergeant came under mortar fire, the Sergeant was killed and "Don" saw his oppotunity.

Yes, I thought it was a great moment when she called him Don. Was that her taking Bobbie's advice to treat him as an equal?

Don seems to be more lonely than ever in this season, somehow - I don't get the impression that he regarRAB any of his colleagues as frienRAB.

Good point. The old compulsion to keep being drawn to the same type of person, to continue the same dynamics and making the same mistakes. Oh dear, I'm starting to feel fretful for their futures!

Isn't the 4th September a Saturday?! Bit of a strange decision to screen it on Saturday nights when most of viewing population go out at the weekend! I'm pretty sure the previous 3 seasons it was never screened on a Saturday.

I would much prefer a Wed/Thur/Sun night instead. Saturday night just seems bizarre and i can't imagine the viewing figures are going to rise, more likely to decrease.

Just caught up on Sunday's episopde. Fab!

Loved betty on the washing machine and the Peggy 'Fly me to the Moon' bit.

How does Don Draper look so impossibly cool in a heatwave?

Are there really just two episodes left?

I agree - it's a real shame he'll no longer be part of the show, I thought his character had loaRAB of potential, story-wise and when he was fired by Don mid-season I fully expected that there'd be some way for him to come back.

:(
