Macs: What is the difference between Text and HTML?

I am wondering what the difference between 'Text' and 'HTML' is.

Is HTML something like, a text that you click on, and will bring you to a webpage?
 
Text is this typing. HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) is similar to text, except you can click and link words to another document, sentence or even images. Plain text as it is known as doe not have this ability. Your second question is correct.
