Macross Frontier Sequel Movie Planned

I'm surprised this wasn't posted! Anime News Network reports that there will be a second Macross Frontier movie beyond the compilation film that's coming out late this fall. No real details yet, but a new story and new music are promised.

I don't really know what to expect, but this project strikes me as a good thing. The Macross Frontier series had a good ending but its obligatory love triangle was left wide open, and it would surprise no one for some other significant alien threat to manifest itself. So long as the movie can offer enough plot to make it more than a glorified examination of Alto Saotome's love life, fans ought to welcome it. Obviously, many fans also want the romance question answered also. It seems to me that Macross F can benefit from an original sequel about as much as Gundam 00. The one concern is whether anything can top the way they ended the series, but that's a good challenge to attempt meeting.

What do you think?
 
My only question is will it follow the event of the series or the first movie since from what I've read some things may differ from the series and the first movie, but anyways..................

first movie a retell, but the sequel will have a new end? That is what it sounRAB like.
I hope so, good show, but the end to the series was somewhat fail.
 
Am I the only one who wants to also see how Alto's situation with his father plays out?

I wonder if Blue Butterfly will be part of soundtrack
