macbook pro or air for christmas (college) ?!?!?! help please:)?

okay, so im stuck. i can't decide between the macbook pro and air for college. my parents are buying a macbook for me for christmas so i have to decide really soon!
i won't need the computer for any super tech-y things. i mean researching, typing papers, working on projects etc. i don't think ill need anything particular for college. so i was leaning towards to macbook air because its super portable! ill be carrying it all around campus, so the lighter the better, right? or should i stick with the slightly heavier but supposedly better macbook pro? agh! all opinons are welcomed. thank you!

Neither. For college, I would say you should go for a Netbook. $1500 cheaper and even more portable. Go for an Asus Eee PC 1005HA with 6 cell battery, for +- 7 hours battery. If you must go for Mac, The Macbook Pro. Simply because it has more power and, being a guy, weight doesn't bother me ;) . Sorry if i confused you even more xD
 
Macbook pro definately, the Air barely has anything on it it is all about it being thin, so like no disk drive or anything so good luck with CDs. The Macbook Pro on the other hand looks good all around, and no I think the MacBook Air took it too far with how light it was, the MacBook Pro doesn't weigh all that much either. Go with the Pro.

Id definitely say Macbook pro. The air doesnt have a CD port, which being in college I imagine would be helpful.
