Macbook Pro boot camp: when I try to install XP I can't find the boot camp partition?

When I run boot camp on my 15 inch 2.4 GHz macbook pro with 250 GB hard disk space, everything works fine up until when I have to choose the partitioned space to put XP on. Instead of having several disk options, like C:, F:, etc. there is only one (the C: drive where mac OS X is stored). I tried using that drive and it ended up erasing my hard drive. I have finished partitioning the memory and there is a drive on my desktop called BOOTCAMP that was created. Has anyone had this problem before and is there a solution?
