Mac Computer technical problems?

On imovie on my macbook, im trying to directly film video from my isight camera onto imovie. For some reason, a popup box appears whenever I click the video camera saying that I need to connect camera. I've tried to import from camera on the file drop down menu and used the Mac Help as well. I don't get why it does this because I've used a different mac of the same model that allows me to video directly. Please help!

are you sure you have a built in camera?
if not, do you have your camera connected and ON?

if yes to these, i would try going to system preferences & then there should be settings to enable camera.. try that


actually or another problem might be that you have something else w/ a camera open [photobooth, ichat camera window, etc... try shutting everything else down except imovie.]

if all fails, restart the computer
