hey guys, so heres what happened.

first, back in june 2008, we got this car out of storage. it started up like theirs no tomorrow, btw oits a 1986 BUICK ELECTRA PARK AVENUE with a 3.8L , later to become the 3800, V6 engine, very reliable engine

anyways, it started up fine after 5 years, but had to return the battery casue i borrowed it. so a couple weeks later we tried to jump tsart it with a small ford sedan with no batter in te car. their wasnt enough juice going through and all wes heard was a click sound from the starter. he though hitting the starter would do something, then when we tried again we didnt hear a CLICK anymore...which prob is bad

a couple days ago we got a batter plus jumper cabled it with a big ass ford truck, their was definately enough power flowing through but NOTHING happened, not even a click from the starter.

whats wrgon? is it the starter? should we give it a whack next time? im not sure what to do :(

When you turn the key to the on position, does everything inside light up?

Assuming it does, go to the store and get a starter button. It'll have two alligator clips on the end of it. Crawl under the a car and connect them to each of the posts on the back of the starter.

If you have a very well insulated screw driver you could use it across the connectors on the back of the starter, just be aware that it will spark pretty heavily. Nothing to worry about though.

If the starter spins then the problem is further up the chain. Otherwise check the voltage from the large post on the starter to a grounding point on the engine while someone holds the key to the start position. If you're getting voltage then replace the starter.

hello there

from what you have said i think you have a bad battery and that both of your battery cables need to be cleaned or replaced i would go replace thank you hope this helps
