M50 vs C50

When staying 10-15mph faster than traffic I like to see how much faster than the speed limit I'm travelling from time to time. :lol4:
 
Jmal, that's with the assumption your speedo is calibrated correctly across its spectrum. I bet ya a 6-pack it isn't. I bet ya another bottle that the amount off increases as your speed increases.
 
I had the 93 Intruder before I bought the M, and yes, it probably was a hair bit faster then the M, as the S is the intruder 800 replacment. Sure it's faster, but at higher speeds, the M is so much more stable due to the the wider front tire. Plus, one time with the Intruder, I was going over a draw bridge that had some plates bolted on it for repais, and since it had just rained, the were a little slick, my front tire slide sideways off the plate, inbetween another plate and it popped the tire's bead right off the rim, and damaged the innertube beyond repair. I wasn't going more then 15mph, and sliding sidways was no more then maybe two inches. I wasn't in any danger from it. Removing/charging the battery was a royal pain in the arse. The one thing I do wish the M had that the S, and old Intruder, actually does is the hydraulic clutch. Not that I noticed any difference in either of them in response or release, but it would make the handle bars much more symetrical appearance having a master cylinder on both sides.
 
Italian biker: the tires/tread pattern have a lot to do with riding over terrain as you described. I can do a battery change on a stock intruder in about 5 minutes with a 10mm socket/rachet and philips screwdriver. It's all a matter of perspective. I ride one, my wife rides one. I put about 10-12K miles on mine per year. My wife's has a 19" wider front wheel/tire. I prefer the look/feel of my skinnier 21" front.

I've slid before with 4 much larger wheels...that's a moot point. ;)
 
I didn't slide because of the narrow tire, any tire may have slid. What popped the bead was that it was between two of those steel plates. Also, I could never get to the one terminal without removing one of the voltage regulator screws, and pivoting the regulator out of the way.
 
Understand now on the tire thing. On the battery, though, if you ever work on another, after you remove the 2 battery box bolts, slide your foot up under the battery and push up, makes getting to the terminals crews a cinch. I'm on my 2nd VS800 and my wife also has one. The simple maintenance items are getting kinda easy for me now. :)
 
It's not that I didn't like my Intuder. The M is easier to get to the battery. It's a trade off though, from having to having to remove the gas tank to get to the spark plugs. But I only have to do it once a season.
 
all you can do is take each one for a ride and find the one for you but one thing to think of do you like to dress up your bike, as i have the m50 and the wife has the c50, she keep telling me to stop trying to dress her's as there is not much to do to a m50 as the c50
 
have yal seen the twisted spokes you can put on a spoked rim? looks alot better. i have seen many spoks removed and replaced with chromed out twisted spokes. look it up
