Lyrical dance question.....?

Ballet and Lyrical Dance kinda go hand in hand. Like your teacher said you don't have to but it is recommended..... I have taken ballet and have done a little lyrical dance and i have to say, i felt more free and balanced when dancing. If you go to Google and type in lyrical dance and search under videos look at the video titled Korean Lyrical Dance, the girl looks like she has done ballet with lyrical.
 
Hi, I'm 31 and started taking jazz and hip hop classes last year. Go me...I have never taken classes before that (a month of tap and ballet at 5 doesn't count). I am thinking that next year as long as I don't get put in a class with 10 year olds I want to add lyrical to my classes. I asked one of my teachers about taking it and if I need to do ballet with it. She said it was recommended but I can always talk to the head honcho about it and see what we can do. My question to you is in your experience how much did taking ballet help you with lyrical? If you could do it again would you still take ballet (if you weren't required to) or just try to figure it out as you go...Thanks for your input.
